Your Success Is Waiting
“Someday my ship will come in”. This is certainly a phrase that many of us have heard or maybe even said at one point or another in our lives. With all the difficulties in life around us every day can we really expect that one day our ship will come in?
Despite the problems that exist, is it possible that perhaps our ’ship’ was at the dock for some time? Is there an argument that presents itself to justify such thinking? What are the benefits that result from such a perspective? Do we meet our expectation?
To begin let’s examine the meaning of the word success. As defined in Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary, success is defined as the attainment of wealth, favor or relief. At first glance it would seem that success would mean we would be getting to live the lifestyle of the rich and famous, but is this the case? Is the money or the acquisition of material goods, an accurate measure of success?
Interestingly, in connection with many business opportunities available on the Internet, it was said that if money were all we were looking for, we need to find a stronger reason for pursuing our interests. When was the last time we went to spend a real vacation? I’m not talking about staying home for a week to do some work around the house, but taking a break for two or three weeks from daily routine? How many times have our children or other family members get to spend quality time with us? Is there a cause or something bigger than us that we would like to contribute, from a mental, emotional, or spiritual point of view?
The point is that if one of the thoughts above are true of us, that maybe, just maybe, our ship was at the dock all the time, and because of the distractions and anxieties of the worlds view of success, it’s never noticed or we’re simply distracted.
As entrepreneurs we do not wait for opportunities, but always looking for ways to create them. Instead of waiting for our ship to come in, we make every effort to swim out of it. Success seems more attainable when we are in the driving seat instead of being driven everywhere by our wishful thinking.
Success is not a fable, but a true reality depending on how it is measured. So, in conclusion, whatever your business is pursuing, if you have a system, follow it. If you need education to understand, use the tools and do it. Stay focused, do not give up. As the old saying goes: ‘If at first you do not succeed, try, try again. Why? Because your success is waiting.
